Our flight started with Izmir-Istanbul, Istanbul-Cairo, Cairo-Darussalam and finally ended on the island of Zanzibar with a smooth plane. Zanzibar is another color in East Africa with its 30 degree temperature in January, wonderful beaches and warm people. The island's capital, Stone Town, is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. Zanzibar was founded by Iranian immigrants from Shiraz. The island was under Portuguese colonial rule between 1503-1698 and came under the control of the Sultanate of Oman in 1698. Ivory, gold and slaves were exported from the region. Its name comes from the Persian word Zencibar, meaning "coast of the blacks".

It is also a very famous place as the birthplace of the legendary lead singer of the band Queen, Freddie Mercury. The house where the artist, whose real name is Ferruh Bulsara, was born on September 5, 1946, is one of the most visited places in Zanzibar. Now a museum, this house houses Freddie Mercury's valuable belongings and past.
