Casablanca, one of Morocco's largest and most developed cities, boasts a rich cultural heritage. Morocco's historical past is a blend of Arab, Berber, French, and African influences. This cultural richness is evident in many areas, from architecture and cuisine to music and festivals. The French colonial period left a legacy of architecture, particularly prevalent in the city, with Art Deco buildings. Art Deco is a movement in art, design, and architecture that emerged in the late 1920s and reached its peak in the 1930s. Combining modernism and luxury, Art Deco is generally known for its elegance, grace, and geometric patterns.

Moroccan cuisine is also very rich, incorporating Arab, Berber, French, and Mediterranean influences. Tagine (a vegetable and meat stew), couscous, pastilla (a sweet and savory pastry), and tea culture (especially mint tea) are quite popular.

Seafood also plays an important role in Casablanca's cuisine.

In addition, the city is one of the centers of the Moroccan film industry and has become an international cultural symbol thanks to the world-famous film Casablanca.

Casablanca boasts a variety of theaters, art galleries, and modern cinemas. With its cultural diversity, Casablanca is an important cultural center not only for Morocco but also for North Africa.

Let's talk about places to visit;

The Hassan II Mosque is a very large mosque. Completed in 1987, it is the third largest mosque in the world. Commissioned by the Moroccan royal family, the mosque stands out for its imposing seaside size and architecture. Its 210-meter-high minaret is the tallest mosque minaret in the world.

Casablanca's Old City (Medina) is a historic district in Casablanca. The Old City is famous for its narrow streets, traditional markets, colorful buildings, and handicrafts. Here, you'll find many buildings and markets reflecting traditional Moroccan architecture and culture. This area, where Casablanca's modern atmosphere meets traditional Moroccan life, offers a rich history and culture.

Rick's Café is a famous restaurant in Casablanca.

It plays a prominent role in the 1942 film Casablanca. However, the real Rick's Café in Casablanca, while not directly connected to the film, was designed to reflect the film's atmosphere. The venue opened as a real café in 2004 and has become a popular destination. It's a popular spot for both film buffs and those looking to savor the Marrakesh cuisine the restaurant offers.

Stretching along Casablanca's coastline, the Corniche is a perfect spot for seaside strolls, cafés, and beachside time. You could call it our "corniche" (a waterfront promenade).

Mahkama du Pacha is a prime example of Moroccan architecture. Its impressive interiors and elegant structure truly impress.

The official name of the famous cathedral in Casablanca is "Cathédrale Sacré-Cœur." Built in the 1930s during the French colonial period, this structure, which combines Neo-Gothic and Art Deco styles, was built to serve the Christian community in Morocco.

Today, Casablanca is home to the largest Jewish community in Morocco, though its numbers have diminished considerably. The city still boasts active synagogues (such as the Beth-El Synagogue), Jewish cemeteries, and cultural sites.

During the Ottoman Empire, Sephardic Jews settled in Ottoman lands after being exiled from Spain and Portugal. Some of these Jewish groups went to North Africa, particularly Morocco. Casablanca was one of the important cities where these immigrants settled. The "Punto" family is a prominent surname among Ottoman Jews. This surname means "point" in Ladino (Judeo-Spanish) and is a name used within the Jewish community. The Punto family is one of the well-known and important families in the Jewish communities of the Ottoman lands and North Africa. I visited their home and met them. They are very warm-hearted people with an interesting history. I made a wish and lit a candle in their home.

La Sqala is an authentic restaurant located within an old castle in Casablanca. Serving traditional Moroccan cuisine, it's known for its local dishes, particularly tagines and couscous. The restaurant's atmosphere, with its historical charm and charming garden, is truly delightful. La Sqala's food is delicious, and the service is top-notch. The meat and chicken tagines are particularly delicious. The restaurant's location is close to the Medina and United Nations Square. The decor and atmosphere reflect traditional Moroccan architecture and culture.

In conclusion, La Sqala is the ideal place for those who want to experience traditional Moroccan cuisine and dine in a historical atmosphere in Casablanca.

Le Jardin d'Eau

Offering Moroccan, French, and Mediterranean cuisine in a modern setting, this restaurant offers a stylish yet comfortable setting for dining. Its stylish interior and garden are also quite appealing.

La Corniche

Located on Casablanca's coastline, these restaurants offer fresh seafood with stunning sea views. Seafood is particularly popular at beachfront restaurants.

Al Mounia

For those looking to try traditional Moroccan cuisine, this is a truly authentic spot. Popular Moroccan dishes like grilled meats and harira soup are prepared with exquisite care.
